As far as the accounting profession is concerned, new life was blown into the discussion of corporate governance and risk management issues. There is now renewed attention from regulatory bodies i.e. the Securities Commission and the Bursa Malaysia on these issues. This will undoubtedly lead to the issue of further regulations. If this means that the professions position will be additionally secured, it is a development that would be welcomed.
